Day 1: Exploring the Bund

Start your first day in Shanghai by visiting the Bund, a famous landmark along the Huangpu River. Walk along the promenade and admire the beautiful colonial buildings that line the street. You can also take a river cruise to see the city skyline from a different perspective.

After exploring the Bund, head over to Yuyuan Garden, one of Shanghai's most picturesque attractions. This traditional Chinese garden is over 400 years old and features beautiful ponds, rock formations, and classic architecture.

In the evening, head to Nanjing Road, a bustling pedestrian street filled with shops, restaurants, and entertainment. Enjoy the lively atmosphere and grab dinner at one of the many local restaurants.

Day 2: Visiting Shanghai's Museums

Spend your second day in Shanghai exploring some of the city's many museums. Start with the Shanghai Museum, which houses a vast collection of ancient Chinese art and artifacts.

Next, head to the China Art Museum, which features contemporary Chinese art and exhibitions.

In the evening, take a stroll along the famous Xintiandi area, a pedestrian-friendly district lined with restored shikumen buildings that house boutiques, bars, and restaurants.

Day 3: Discovering the City's Food Scene

Shanghai's food scene is not to be missed! Start your day by visiting the local wet markets, such as the Dongtai Road Antique Market or the Shanghai Yatai Xinyang Fashion & Gifts Market, to see the bustling activity and colorful produce on offer.

For lunch, head to a traditional Dim Sum restaurant, such as Din Tai Fung or Nan Xiang Steamed Bun Restaurant, to taste some of the city's most famous dishes.

In the evening, explore the French Concession, a charming neighborhood filled with cafes, bars, and restaurants serving a mixture of local and international cuisine.

Day 4: Exploring Shanghai's Neighborhoods

Shanghai has many neighborhoods worth exploring. Start with the Jing'an District, where you can see the famous Jing'an Temple, a beautiful Buddhist temple in the heart of the city.

Next, head to the trendy Tianzifang, a labyrinth of alleys and lanes lined with art galleries, boutiques, cafes, and bars. It's a great place to pick up unique souvenirs and gifts.

Later in the day, head to the Shanghai Tower, the tallest building in China and the second-tallest in the world. Take the elevator to the observation deck for panoramic views of the city.

Day 5: Day Trip to Water Towns

Spend your final day in Shanghai by visiting one of the nearby water towns, such as Zhujiajiao, Zhouzhuang, or Tongli. These picturesque towns are known for their canals, bridges, and traditional architecture, and offer a glimpse into China's ancient past.

Explore the narrow streets and alleyways, visit local temples and gardens, and try some of the local delicacies. Make sure to take a boat ride along the canals for a unique view of these charming towns.

After a full day of exploring, head back to Shanghai for one last dinner and drinks before your departure.
